Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the cooling character of a cabover type vehicle, by such means that, in the coupling device for driving a cooling fan with a fluid coupling installed, the cooling water temperature, when becoming above the set value, be detected with an electromagnetic clutch independently operated of the fluid coupling.
CONSTITUTION: A rotation of the engine, transferred to a pulley 4, rotates a drive rotor 12 of a fluid coupling 11 together with a drive shaft 1 of the water pump through a clutch casing 3. As the fluid coupling 11 is operated in a manner with its fluid within a reservoir 32 controlled a flow by a turning motion of the control plate 26 caused by a spiral shape bimetal 29, a rotational speed of the cooling fan is controlled by a temperature of the cooling air. With the detection made for a temperature of the cooling water becoming above the set value, the operation of an electromagnetic clutch 5 makes a direct coupling to a clutch case 13, made in one unit with the cooling fan, with a clutch plate 22 moving against the tension of a leaf spring 21.
