Abstract

PURPOSE: For improving the characteristic of unstability range so that favourable operational condition may be obtained constantly, to reduce lift current in sectional size in the vicinity of the lower end of a runner by feeding pressure water to the extensible tube encased in the groove in the vicinity of the lower end of said runner when back flow has occurred.
CONSTITUTION: When lift has increased and lift rate has decreased, both gradually, to the values within unstability range with a pump operated, a lift detector 14 and a lift rate detector 15 detect this and open a discharge pressure adjustor 13. Thereby, an extensible tube in a groove 9 is supplied with pressure water from a casing 7 through a high-pressure conduit pipe 11 to expand into a suction pipe 4 so that lift decreases in sectional size. Even if lift has increased further and there has arisen a possibility of back flow 16 in said runner 2, back flow water decreases, no sharp flow change takes place and transfer to stability range is made smoothly since lift current is reduced in sectional size.
