Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform digital recording with high accuracy with a miniature device by selectively polarizing the photoconductive recording layer of a recording medium through light radiation corresponding to information and detecting the polarized parts and non-polarized parts through the capacity change between the scanning electrode and conductive layer.

CONSTITUTION: After the light beam 25 from a light source 17 adapted to the material forming the recording layer is subjected to intensity modulation by the signal from a signal source 19 with a modulator 18, it is spot radiated to the recording layer of the recording medium 1 via condensing lens optical system 20. At the same time the light beam 28 from another light source 26 is also radiated to the side of the foregoing stop to record the tracking signal. At the reproducing, the tracking of a stylus electrode 21 is accomplished but the beam 28 is also intensity modulated with a modulator 27 by the signal from a tracking signal source 30. The information from the medium 1 having undergone recording is read out as the capacity change between the electrode 21 and conductive layer 3 by the detecting circuit 22 connected to the electrode 21. Thereby, the recording device which is small in size, high in sensitivity and permits digital recording may be obtained.
