Abstract
PURPOSE: To perform facsimile transmission with gradation by obtaining a binary signal either by mixing an AC voltage, which has no relation to the light and shade of a picture into an analog picture signal or by applying a pulse signal, which has no relation to the light and shade of the picture, to a comparator.
CONSTITUTION: The picture of original 1 is read out by photoelectric converter element 3 and analog picture signal is compared with the signal of comparator circuit 5 to obtain a binary-coded signal. In this case, an AC voltage of 4sinθ which has no relation to the light and shade of the picture is applied by mixer 7 to analog picture signal S, the output of amplifier 4 and its output is supplied to comparator 5; in the other method, AC voltage 4sinθ is applied by comparator- signal generator 8 to comparator 5 as a pulse signal which has no relation to the light and shade of the picture. Consequently, a binary coded signal is obtained without making alterations in a facsimile equipment greatly, so that facsimile transmission with gradation can be attained.
