Abstract
PURPOSE: To make press.-resistant hopper etc. for raw material unnecessary, so that the height of the furnace is decreased, and the gas flow in the furnace is uniformized, by installing a suspended body, equipped with an exhaust gas conduit and spreading downward, in the center of the top of a blast furnace, and by charging raw material around the suspended body.
CONSTITUTION: One or more raw-material-feed pipes 8 are installed at the top wall 7 of a blast furnace 1, and at the center is arranged a suspended body 9 equipped with exhaust gas conduit 5. The lower part of the body 9 widens in a shape of a dome, semisphere, or an umbrella. Raw material such as iron ore drops through the feed pipes 8 to the space 10 made by outer surface of the suspended body 9 and the inner surface of the blast furnace 1. The raw material 3 forms a nearly flat annular stock line 11 and a conical stockline 12, so that coarse particles of the iron ore collect easily to the center of the furnace. Consequently, ascending gas in the furnace rises up through the central zone of the furnace and is discharged through the conduit 5. Furnace conditions are stabilized because the furnace gas rises up through the central zone, in addn., the height of the furnace is decreased because it is unnecessary to install special raw-material-feeding apparatus at the furnace top.
