Abstract

PURPOSE: A dispersant for Satin white having improved dispersibility with a small amount, consisting of a salt of a polymer obtained from acrylic acid and a sulfone group-containing monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 moles of acrylic acid is polymerized with B) 5W90 moles of a sulfone group-containing monomer selected from the group consisting of allylsulfonic acid, methacrylsulfonic acid, vinylsulfonic acid, 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, their alkali metallic and ammonium salts in an aqueous medium in the presence of a water-soluble polymerization initiator, e.g., a persulfate. A polymerization product thus obtained is neutralized to give a dispersant for Satin white consisting of an alkali metallic or an ammonium salt of a polymer haing an average molecular weight of 500W20,000.
