Abstract

PURPOSE: To obviate receiving of the effect of other cables and achieve the improvement in searching ability by adequately selecting the output voltage of an oscillator applied to the cable under search which is cut off from a commercial power source according to the current flowing in the parallel running other cable.
CONSTITUTION: Two power source side of the cable 1 under search which is cut off from a commercial power source is shorted by closing a power source switch 2 and the output voltage of an oscillator 3 is intermittently applied from its load side end. The output is then searched by a receiver 5 via search coil 4. When load current of 50 Hz is being flowed in the other cable 6 running in parallel with the cable 1 under search 1, the output frequency of the oscillator 3 is made to 750 Hz or over and 1200 Hz or under excluding up to the 15th higher harmonic waves of 50 Hz, and when load current of 60 Hz is being flowed, it is made to 900 Hz or over and 1200 Hz or under excluding up to the 15th higher harmonic waves of 60 Hz, whereby the route of the cable 1 under search may be surely searched.
