Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent deterioration in the fluorescence output and blackening of the lamp due to contamination stemmed from decomposed gases by applying barium titanate as an electron redioactive matter to electrodes.
CONSTITUTION: A baked material composed of barium titanate is crushed and milled into a powder with a grain of μ. The powder thus obtained as an electron radioactive matter is suspend in an organic solvent and applied to a coil filament. The coil filament thus treated is incorporated into a fluorescent lamp, and the air is evacuated from the lamp to produce a finished product. Electron radioactive matters composed of barium titanate are extremely stable, showing no deterioration even when exposed to the air. In addition, these provide proper electron radioactivity as it is eliminating the need of decomposition or activation when used for lamps. Accordingly, contamination in the lamp with decomposed gases can be prevented, eliminating deterioration in fluorescence output and blackening of the lamp due to contamination. Thus, it is possible to obtain a fluorescent lamp which affords a good brightness and a prolonged life.
