Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise weld quality and welding efficiency without trouble with fusion failure and thermal shock for welding a thick layer pass to a material sufferable welding cracks by adopting an arc oscillating hot wire method.
CONSTITUTION: In TIG welding, a hot wire method in which arc is oscillated at 2 to 4 cycles and the core wire 5 is heated by a heat source other than are energy is adopted. For example, electrification is made across the core wire 5 as cathode and the base metal 2 as anode, whereby the molten pool 9 is vibrated and arc is scattered onto the beveling wall 3a to melt the beveling wall 3a, thus eliminating failure of fusion. In addition, the oscillation of arc keeps the beveling wall 3a in heated state all the time, thus preventing it from thermal shock. Thus, this method can avoid the occurrence of micro-cracking even for materials of bad weldability.
