Abstract
PURPOSE: The title composition having high modulus even at high temperature and improved processing characteristics, obtained by adding a polyfunctional crosslinking agent to an elastomeric copolymer consisting of a conjugated diene, styrene, and a glycidyl group-containing monomer.
CONSTITUTION: A) 100 parts by wt. of an elastomeric copolymer consisting of a) not less than 50 wt.% of a conjugated diene having 4C or 5C, b) preferably not less than 5 wt.% of styrene (the sum of a and b is 80W99.5 %), and c) 0.5W20 wt.% of a glycidyl group-containing monomer (preferably glycidyl methacrylate) is blended with B) 0.1W10 parts by wt. of a polyfunctional crosslinking agent (preferably a diamine or its salt) capable of reacting with epoxy groups of c) at 60W200°C, preferably at 100W170°C, for 10 minutes to 5 hours in an open mill, etc. and crosslinked. Sulfur is preferably used together to give high modulus rubber.
