Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the structure through omission of the position detecting mechanism for the print head by controlling the generation of the timing pulse via the electronic means for printing of the serial printer featuring the open loop system.
CONSTITUTION: The system comprises space timing pulse generation circuit 1 to give the horizontal spacing to the print head and print timing pulse generation circuit 2 to drive the dot printing elements within the print head. Both circuit 1 and 2 consist of FF3 and 4 featuring the same constitution, pulse counter 6, address counter 7, timing counter 8 and ROM. First, the timing pulse row data table is stored in ROM and then read out by the print command PS to be set to counter 8 as well as count the clock. And the carry signal transmitted when counter 8 features a fixed value is used as the space or print timing pulse to drive the pulse motor for printing.
