Abstract

PURPOSE: To smoothly connect additional information to a track already recorded with information, by using a synchronizing signal previously recorded on the last part of said track to switch a track-pursuing recording spot from a low output to a high output.
CONSTITUTION: When the additional information A2 is prepared in an information source 18, a starting pulse is applied from a control circuit 16 to a switch circuit and a servo circuit 17 for moving a recording head 21. As soon as the head 21 is started, an electrical current is supplied from a DC power source 15 to a semiconductor laser unit 1 through a laser driver 19 to effect continuous oscillation with an output of 1 to 3 mW. At that time, a tracking servo circuit 10 a signal demodulation circuit 12 are also started. Light reflected from a disc is detected by a detector 8 to pursue the already recorded track A1 on the disc through the circuit 10 etc. The synchronizing signal is previously recorded on the last part of the track A1. The synchronizing signal is picked up by a synchronizing signal separation circuit 13 so that the control circuit 16 generates the pulse signal. The information is applied from the information source 18 to a drive circuit 19. The additional information is applied to the laser unit 1 so that the additonal information is recorded.
