Abstract

PURPOSE: To power unit suitable for the resistance welder which prevents the fluctuation of the welding current on purpose to prevent the generation of irregularity in the weld zene, by igniting the control element like as the thyristor, etc., according to the signal formed depending on the value of the welding current for specified cycles.
CONSTITUTION: At starting the power unit, an initial signal (d) is given by the command unit 9 to the pulse forming circuit 6, which then forms the igniting pulse (c) from above signal (d) and the signal (b) given by the synchronizing signal generating circuit 8; this igniting pulse (c) is given to the thyristors 2, 3 through the amplifier. After the welding current beings to flow, the signal (d) is switched to the output signal (f) produced from the phase control circuit 12. The effective value of the welding current, being detected by the current detector 10 and being operated by the operator 11, and the output of the current setting circuit 5 are processed by the phase control circuit 12, which then produces the signal (f) to the pulse forming circuit 6 so as to make the welding current to coincide with the set value. The pulse forming circuit 6 forms the igniting pulse (c) from this signal (f) and the synchronizing signal (b). Hereby, the welding current, being corrected to a value approximately equal to the set value, is supplied; and after a specified time over, identical currents of reverse polarity begin to flow.
