Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce a starting voltage of a lamp which increases xenon seal pressure, by protruding a conductor, which works as an auxiliary electrode at a starting time, toward a bulb inner wall from an outer circumference of the electrode.
CONSTITUTION: A conductor 9, which works as an auxiliary electrode at a starting time with an electrode located facing and opposite to each other, is projected at the inside of an alumina luminous bulb toward a bulb inner wall from an outer circumference of the electrode. An outer auxiliary conductor 8 is connected with one electrode via a bi-metallic switch 10, which is released by the heating of a luminous bulb after the bulb lights on, in order to prevent a loss of sodium at the inside of the bulb. A distance between the end C of a molybdenum bar serving as the auxiliary electrode conductor 9 and the bulb inner wall part (e) must be 0.5 mm. And thus, the production of a kick voltage can be suppressed and a condenser 13, which serves to widen a pulse width of the kick voltage, is also connected.
