Abstract

PURPOSE: To set the lift of a main or auxiliary intake valve at will, by installing the valve in contact with an arm projecting from an intermediate member.
CONSTITUTION: The intermediate member 17 is fitted on a pin 16 erected on a cylinder block 15. The arm 18 projects from the intermediate member 17. The top 19 of the intermediate member is located in contact with a second push part 13 of a rocker arm 11. The top 23 of the main intake valve 22 is located in contact with a first push part 12. The top 25 of the auxiliary intake valve 24 is located in contact with the arm 18. When a push rod 27 moves up, the rocker arm 11 swings so that the main intake valve 22 is opened by the first push part 12, the intermediate member 17 is pushed down by the second push part 13 and the auxiliary intake valve 24 is opened by the arm 18.
