Abstract

PURPOSE:A solution containing stevioside is specifically pretreated and then treated with an adsorbent of synthetic resin to produce high-purity and colorless stevioside, a natural sweetener. CONSTITUTION:After calcium hydroxide is added to a crude stevioside solution, carbon dioxide is passed through the solution at room temperature to precipitate calcium carbonate and impurities. After the precipitate is removed, the stevioside solution is contacted with an absorbent of synthetic resin with macro network structure and then eluted, thus giving purified stevioside of the formula.
