Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare a cured vinyl ester resin useful for the lining of storage tanks, free from foaming and having high curing degree even by the curing at a low temperature in a short time, by using a specific peroxide curing agent and curing accelerator.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Purified methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKPO) is prepared by treating MEKPO with ammonium sulfate, etc., thereby eliminating hydrogen peroxide therefrom. A vinyl ester resin is cured at 0W40°C in the presence of catalysts comprising (A) and (B) a tertiary alkyl peroxy ester (e.g. tert-butyl peroxy neodecanoate, etc.) and curing accelerators comprising (C) an acetoacetic ester (e.g. methyl acetoacetate, etc.) and (D) a metal soap (e.g. cobalt naphthenate, etc.)
