Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare an unsaturated polyester resin composition for pressure molding, useful as insulating materials and structural material resins, and giving excellent warpage resistance and crack resistance, by using calcium carbonate and silica sand having specific particle size, etc., and short fibers as fillers.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An unsaturated polyester prepared from an unsaturated dibasic acid and a diol is compounded with (B) a vinylferroceneIWIII as a crosslinking agent, (C) calcium carbonate having particle size of 0.5W80μ, (D) sillica sand having particle size of 40W1,000μ and (E) short fibers having length of 0.2W 8mm (e.g. glass fibers, etc.) wherein (C)/(D)=0.7W10,[(C)+(D)/(A)=1.5W 7, and (E)/[(A)+(C)+(D)+(E)]=0.01W0.15. A polymerization catalyst (e.g. benzoyl peroxide, etc.) is added to the above composition to give the desired resin composition.
