Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce quality dispersion and obtain a high-quality soft contact lens usable continuously, by heating a stock solution uniformly filled between a concave and a convex molds to form a lens having a constant tensile strength, and by extracting the lens released from the molds with water. CONSTITUTION:About more than five times excess amount of a stock solution than required is introduced into the concave mold 1, on which the convex mold 2 is put to overflow and fill the stock solution uniformly between the two molds 1 and 2. At least one of the molds has an interference face, for instance a pair of molds consisting of the concave mold 1 with an interference face and the convex mold 2 without it. The resulting material is heated to form a lens having a tensile strength >=0.1kgf/cm<2> and the lens, a solvent-containing gel, in immersed in water to be released from the molds.
