Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible simple electrode lead-out construction by securing the opening end of a protecting tube to a plug body in such a manner that the force in the axial direction is applied to cylindrical solid electrolyte.
CONSTITUTION: Mechanical assembling of a zirconia element 6 is accomplished by fitting a ring 14 and insulation ceramic powder 15 to a plug body 10, placing the zirconia element 6 thereon, pressing the same with a protecting tube 20 via conductive powder and fusion-welding the fitting part of the tube 20 to the plug body 10 thereby fixing the same. Since this enables both end faces of the tube to be supported in sandwich form, there are no waseful thicknesses like bag-tube form, the wall thickness may be made even and this, a wider sensitive area may be taken and the sensor of the simple construction may be obtained.
