Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a cleaning system for multitubular heat exchanger, in which a backwash system is provided between the inlet of a circulation pump and the outlet for carrying out backwash by use of pressure difference while the cleaning system is not in operation, whereby it is prevented that foreign matters such as microorganism living in the sea enter into the system and be attached to the inner surfaces in the system.
CONSTITUTION: A three-way valve is used for inlet valve 10a for a ball circulating pump 9 and also for outlet valve 12a for a ball recovering means 6, and ball circulating line 13 and another backwash line 14 are provided between these two valves 10a and 12a. Since pressure P1 at the inlet point 5 is about 5W10 mAq higher than pressure P2 in the ball recovering means, ball circulating pump 9 is operated for circulating balls in reverse direction when the cleaning system is not in operation. When the system is not in operation, foreign matters introduced into the system from the ball inlet point 5 is discharged to cooling water line 4 by the flow passing from point 5 via backwash line 14 to ball recovering means 6. Furhter, it is also prevented that foreign matters into ball extracting tube 7 of said means 6
