Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable smooth staring of a turbine rotor by engaging gears without scratching the gears when coupling the final gear of a reduction gear for a device for turning the rotor with the gear mounted at the rotor.
CONSTITUTION: When a cylinder 27 is telescoped at its rod as shown by an arrow, a lever 25 is rocked around a center shaft 24 to cause the final gear 3 on a rocking lever 20 to be moved at its center as shown by an arrow to thus engage the gear 3 with the gear 2 on a turbine rotor 1 to thereby rotate the rotor 1 through gear trains 13, 11, 6, 3 and 2 by the power from a decelerating gear 14 driven by a motor 10. There is provided a starting circuit A for controlling to continuously energize the motor in an apparatus thus constructed by energizing the motor 10 for extremely short time to make complete engagement of the gears 3, 2 after the latter and engaged incompletely and after the complete engagement is confirmed
