Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an electric motor wherein a gap between a stator and a rotor is utilized for the transmission of electromagnetic energy and simultaneously as a bearing surface to make the bearing and the bearing frame to be exclusively used unnecessary, thereby lowering the cost of manufacture of the motor and miniaturizing the same.
CONSTITUTION: A gap formed between a stator 1 and a rotor 6 is filled with a lubricant 11, and at the same time, a V-shaped groove 7 in which a lubricant generates a hydrodynamic pressure is formed to use the gap surface as a fluid lubrication bearing. For this reason, the rotor completely floats up by the lubricating oil film, and the contact between the stator and the rotor occurs at less than a certain rotational number when the motor is started or when the motor is stopped or retarded. The wear of the stator and rotor is extremely small and the life thereof as the bearing is extremely prolonged
