Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a hot iron desulfurizing agent with superior performance by adding residue formed at the time of producing dicyandiamide from lime nitrogen to a mixt. of aggregated particles of carbon-cont. quick lime and carbon powder, followed by calcination in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Fine carbon-contg. CaO of 5mu or below in which Ca and O2 ions are asymmetrically arranged and carbon of 1mu or below is present between the crystals is aggregated to particles of 50mu or below. To the particles is added carbon powder of 100mu or below so that the powder becomes 0.03-0.5 to CaO. The resulting mixt. is a hot iron desulfurizing agent with superior performance, to the mixt. is, however, further added residue formed at the time of producing dicyandiamide from lime nitrogen. This residue is a mixt. of CaCO3 and C, and the C content to CaCO3 is 0.3 or below in this case. The mixt. of the above agent and residue is heated to 850-1250 deg.C and calcined to obtain a hot iron desulfurizing agent with extremely superior performance.
