Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a checker which enables checking of not only deterioration in the capacity of the battery but also troubles of the inverter circuit or the like by checking the condition of the fluorescent lamp depending on the voltage of a capacitor connected to output end of a high frequency inverter in series with the fluorescent lamp. CONSTITUTION:When the failure of commercial power supply is artificially caused, a transistor inverter 10 is connected to a battery 9 through a contact 12 to light a fluorescent lamp in a emergency mode. A voltage of high frequency is applied to the detection output of a checker V in proportion to the voltage of a capacitor 17. At the initial stage of the artificial power failure when the voltage of the battery 9 is high, the high frequency voltage is high enough to make a transistor 20 non- conductive. Thus a light emitting diode 21 ceases to illuminate. If troubles such as reduction in the capacity or the like should occur in the battery 9 before the end of the checking, the diode 21 emits light thereby indicating that the normal emnergency lighting is unable to perform.
