Abstract
PURPOSE: To isomerize dichlorobutene in high yield with preventing obstruction of an apparatus by suppressing the formation of tarry high-boiling by-products, by using a highly active caralyst comprising a copper compound and piperidine hydrochloride, glycine ethyl ester hydrochloride or 2-amino-4-chlorophenol.
CONSTITUTION: Isomerization between 3, 4-dichlorobutene-1 and 1, 4-dichlorobutene -2 is carried out at a relatively low temperature of 80-120°C, preferably 85-95°C, using as an isomerization catalyst, a copper compound, e.g. suprous chloride, copper naphthenate, copper acetate, etc., and piperidine hydrochloride, glycine ethyl ester hydrochloride or Z-amino-4-chlorophenol. Concentration of the catalyst is 0.05-2, especially 0.1-1, wt.% of a copper compound and 0.05-4, especially 0.15- 2, wt.% of the other compound based on dichlorobutene.
EFFECT: Said catalyst is highly active even in low concentration and is not corrosive to the apparatus
