Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify a pattern process without increasing buffer memory capacity by performing the decoding after providing control bits within the range of the prescribed number of bits and by removing those control bits after the needed process of a pattern.
CONSTITUTION: Pattern input part 2 converts a pattern into an electric signal, coding part 3 codes with given bit width including control bits processing the pattern on the basis of the codes, and buffer memory 4 is stored with those codes. Next, pattern processing part 5 expands or contracts the pattern on the basis of the coded codes, and code conversion part 6 removes control bits from the codes. As a result, codes coded by code conversion part 6 are coded without including control bits and made to correspond to codes obtained through a pattern processing and that results in the same number of codes as the coding without using control bits evetually, so that the pattern processing can be simplified without increasing the capacity of a buffer memory
