Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a lamp of high luminance and good chromaticity, subject to little deterioration, by using a substance in which a part of rare-earch exyhalogenated fluorescent La, Gd containing a small quantity of alkali metal has been substituted by a spefic quantity of Y, Lu.
CONSTITUTION: The general formula for a rare-earth oxyhalogenated fluorescent material containing 3W1,000ppm of alkali metal is given by A1-x . yBx:Tby.Cez (where A represents at least either La or Gd; B at least either Y of Lu; X at least either C1 or Br; 2×10-6≤x≤2×10-1, 5×10-4≤Z≤ 3×10-1, 0≤×≤1×10-1). Such a fluorescent material has high luminance, good dispersibility and excellent chromaticity, and is susceptible to less deterioration. For example, dissolve La2O3 (0.978 mols), Y2O3 (0.1 mol) and Tb4O7 (0.0015 mols) in nitric acid, and subject the resultant substance to coprecipitation with oxalic acid. Bake the resultant oxalate at 900°C in the air for one hour. Next, add NH4Br and bake the substance in a lid-fitted crucible for one hour. Then add Li2CO3 and bake the substance at 1,000°C for two hours. Then a recrystalized fluorescent material is obtained
