Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide numerical control unit with automatic corrective capability in processing, measuring and compensating processes only with NC (numerical control) tape instructions.
CONSTITUTION: The numerical control unit 21 is of a standard configuration consisting of; a memory 22 storing main programs on numerically controlled operations, a central processing unit (CPU) 23 executing the loaded program instructions, a buffer register 24, a tool repositioning register 25 and an interface 27 transmitting signals between the buffer register and a machine tool. The NC unit also incorporates an automatic corrective facilities comprising; a memory storing a sub-programs performing tool repositioning instructions, a R3 register 29 for temporary storage of data on specified product dimensions, an interface 31 connected to an automatic measurement/correction device 30, a R4 register 32 providing temporary storage of errors between actual and specified dimensions and an interface 33 connected to a register 33
