Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a constant photoelectric conversion output at all times by controlling the photoelectric conversion period of the semiconductor sensor according to the peripheral temperatures.
CONSTITUTION: A constant photoelectric conversion output is ensured at all times by installing the following units: the fluorescent lamp to irradiate the original surface; semiconductor sensor 3 to give the photoelectric conversion to the reflection light or the transmission light sent from the original surface; circuit 7 to detect the peripheral temperatures including the fluorescent lamp; and signal PG to control the photoelectric conversion period of sensor 3 based on the information obtained through the detection at circuit 7. Then the waveform of signal PG is varied according to the peripheral temperatures of the fluorescent lamp. Thus, the photoelectric conversion period is extended with reduction of the light volume of the fluorescent lamp, and contrarily the photoelectric conversion period is shortened with increase of the light volume of the fluorescent lamp. In this connection, the changing rate of the light volume of the fluorescent lamp caused by the temperature change is made to correspond to the changing rate of period T of signal PG. As a result, a constant photoelectric conversion output can be obtained at all times regardless of the peripheral temperature change when the same pictures are read out
