Abstract
PURPOSE:To permit satisfactory combustion to be obtained with increase of the intake air quantity and extent of revolution by forming upper and lower branch intake ports in the cylinder head and specifically arranging the individual ports such that they are open to the cylinder. CONSTITUTION:Two intake ports 10, namely upper and lower prts, are formed within a cylinder head 4. The upper port 11 has a substantially straight form tangentially approaching the inner periphery of a cylinder liner 1, with its end curved along the liner inner periphery and open to the interior of the cylinder 3, and the lower port 12 extends toward the aixs of the cylinder liner 1, with its end curved along the aforesaid inner periphery and open to the interior of the cylinder 3. With this construction, the upper port 11 sufficiently withdraw air, and the lower port 12 serves to cause revolution of and urge the air withdrawn through the opening 13 of the port 11 and thus prevents turbulent flow, so that satisfactory combustion can be obtained.
