Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve flame retardancy of polypherylene oxide resins without degrading dripping in burning, by using tris (diaminotriazine-yl) hexane and a phosphate as flame retardants.
CONSTITUTION: A composition prepared by incorporating (A) 60W97 wt.% of a resin consisting of (a) 20W90 wt.% of a polyphenylene oxide of formula I: (R1 and R2 are 1W4C alkyl groups) and (b) 10W80 wt.% of a styrene polymer with (B) 3W40 wt.% of (c) 1,3,6-tris (4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine-2-yl)-hexane of formula II and (d) a phosphate, e.g. triphenyl phosphate, etc. The weight ratio of ingredients (d) to (c) is preferably 0.2W3:1.
