PURPOSE:To make both PAL system and SECAM system compatible in relation to a common video recorder by making the automatic frame discrimination of color television signals of the PAL system and SECAM system and by automatically imposing conditions upon the servo circuit of the video recorder and a video processing circuit. CONSTITUTION:Corresponding to the start of the frame of a signal obtained from arrival television signal 10, horizontal synchronizing signal pulses of this signal are counted 30 and when the output of this counter method 30 is received and the arrival television signal is a PAL signal, the burst signal on its 6th line is discriminated 38.
