Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the effect of dust absorption by use of a washing apparatus wherein water flowing along a wall after wall washing is introduced in the direction at right angles with a gas current at a maximum gas current site, the washing liquid being finely pulverized to improve the efficiency of contact with water drops.
CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a contraction section 15, a throat section 16 and an expansion section 17, the said contraction section 15 being provided with washing liquid-injection pipes 18 and nozzles 19. Rotating, driving shafts 21 are engaged with movable vanes 22 at the throat section so as to maintain the rate of gas flow constant at the throat section even if the volume of gas varied. If a washing liquid is injected through the nozzles 19, a portion of the washing liquid is transported floatingly on the gas current. The other portion of the washing liquid adheres to the wall surface of the open section, flowing down along the surface of the movable vanes 22, being injected from bent sections 24 in the direction at right angles to the gas current in a maximum rate of flow section so as to increase the efficiency of contact with water drops.
