Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce change in shaft vibration due to a thermal imbalance of the rotor by controlling the temperature of the cooling medium to maintain the temperature of the rotor coil constant with the detection of the temperature thereof.
CONSTITUTION: The temperature of a rotary coil 6 is detected with a temperature detection element 13 and a detection signal is inputted into a control circuit 14. The circuit 14 compares the detection signal with the set reference temperature to actuate a control motor 12 whereby the opening of a control valve 11 of an inlet cooling water pipe 10 leading to a heat exchanger 9 is adjusted. With such an arrangement, the cooling capaity of cooling air as indicated by the arrow in the drawing is adjusted to control the temperature of the rotor coil to a constant level. In this manner, changes in the shaft vibration due to a thermal imbalance of the rotor can be reduced substantially while thermal fatigue of the components of the rotor due to heat hysteresis is reducible
