Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform high resolution high speed recording by intermittently moving magnetic heads of an equal spacing arrayed in the drum axis direction in association with the main scanning by drum turning thereby performing auxiliary scanning in the drum axis direction.
CONSTITUTION: Main scanning is accomplished by turning of a drum 1. Auxiliary acanning is accomplished as the head 2 formed of a plurality of head elements of an equal spacing at the required pitch in the axial direction of the drum 1 intermittently moves in the axial direction of the drum 1 according to the pitch and head width of the head elements.
