Abstract

PURPOSE: The polymerization of α-olefin is conducted by using a combination of a specific solid product and an organoaluminum compound as a catalyst to produce high-crystallinity α-olefin polymers in high polymer yield per unit amount of catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100g of a solid product resulting from the reaction between (a) a trivalent metal halide and (b) a divalent metal hydroxide, oxide, carbonate or complex salt containing these compounds or a hydrate of divalent metal compounds at room temperature to 500°C are reacted with (c) 10-1000g of an electron donor at room temperature to 300°C for 10min to 5 hr to form a solid product (B), 100g of which is reacted with 1-1000g of (d) a transition metal compound at 50-300°C for 10min to 5 hr to prepare solid product (C). An organoaluminum compound (D) is combined with the solid product (C). An organoaluminum compound (D) is combined with the solid product (C) and the polymerization of α-olefin is conducted in the presence of the resulting catalyst at room temperature to 150°C under normal pressure to 50kg/cm2
