Abstract

PURPOSE: To readily increase copying speed by changing 90° the direction of the back ridge line of a roof type reflecting mirror between forward scanning and backward scanning and radiating the light image of the original on photoreceptor surface at both forward and backward scanning.
CONSTITUTION: When the original 0 is scanned in the arrow A direction at the forward scanning, the image of the original plane is inverted in a lateral direction, i,e., in the direction perpendicular to the scanning direction, by a plane mirror 2 and is further inverted again in the lateral direction by a plane mirror 3, thence by the in-mirror lens system of an image forming lens system 4, the 180° rotation and lateral inversion of the image are accomplished. Next, the inversion in the lateral direction is repeated twice by a prism 5, after which the inversion in the lateral direction is applied by a plane mirror 6, whereby the image of the original plane is radiated to a photoreceptor 7. At the backward scanning, the original 0 is scanned in the arrow B direction, and the luminous flux from the lens sysetm 4 is inverted repeatedly twice in the scanning direction by the prism 5, after which it is inverted in the lateral direction by the plane mirror 6, whereby it is radiated to the photoreceptor 7. Thereby, copying speed may be readily improved.
