Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable selective use of large and small two casettes to be made through simple operation involving mounting and dismounting of an adapter by removing the adapter in mounting a large size cassette and inserting the adapter in mounting a small size cassette.
CONSTITUTION: If in the case of using a large cassette 11 by mounting the same in a cassette mounting part 2 the cassette 11 is mounted in the state where an adapter 30 has been removed, then magnetic heads 3, 4 and a pinch roller 5 enter the inside of an opening 12 and desired recording and reproducing may be performed. On the other hand, if in the case of using a small size cassette 21 the adapter 30 is mounted in the recess 2a of the cassette mounting part 2, the revolutions of a drive shaft 6 for the large cassette are transmitted to a drive shaft 32 for the small size cassette 21 provided to the adapter 30. When the small size cassette 21 is mounted in the cassette mounting part 2 after mounting of the adapter 30, then recording and reproduction may be performed by the magnetic heads 3, 4 and pinch roller 5.
