Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the S/N of the luminance level where noise is most conspicuous by providing a circuit whose gain changes according to the luminance levels of video.
CONSTITUTION: Input video signal 20 enters an amplifier 23 whose gain changes according to DC levels, by which the video signal 27 having S curve characteristics may be obtained. When the S curve characterisitc video signal 30 is inputted, it becomes video signal 32, which further enters an amplifier 33 whose gain changes according to DC levels. With this amplifier 33, the levels of the changing gains are high level 34a and low level 34b, and if the polarities of diodes 35, 36 and voltages are so selected that the gain of the amplifier 33 is small between both of these levels and that the gain increases at a level higher than 34a and a level lower than 34b, then the linear video signal 37 may be obtained.
