In other words, in case application program PGR1 stores a certain record, PGR1 has only to give the write order after designation of the types of record. As for the personel control work, for example, the record storage of a certain person suffices with indication that it is an individual record belonging to department A and with emission of the write order. When PGR1 gives the record storage request to system 2, system 2 decides the optimum storage position via region control function 4 and by referring to data dictionary and directory DD/D6. Then system 2 performs storage to base 5 based on the decided next storage position.
