Abstract

PURPOSE: To directly measure the insulation resistance value of a power cable by inserting a resistor between the shield of a cable to be measured and the ground, and connecting DC constant voltage power supply to both ends of the resistor to be used as a power for measuring the leaked current with the voltage occurred at both ends of the resistor.
CONSTITUTION: A resistor 13 is inserted between the shield 7 of a cable to be measured and the ground, and the output of a DC constant voltage unit 14 driven by the AC low voltage power supply is connected to both ends of the resistor 13. Since stabilized DC voltage is applied between the shield 7 and the ground, it is used as the measuring power supply to introduce the current leaked through the cable body insulation resistance and through high voltage bus 2 and grounding transformer 3 to the neutral point of the transformer 3 to be read at the value by an ammeter 6. Thus, the insulation resistance of the cable can be safely measured.
