Abstract
PURPOSE: To simplify the structure and heighten the safety, by using an elastic member to shift a valve and by locking up the action of the valve in high-speed running.
CONSTITUTION: An inner valve member 15 is secured to a shaft of a steering wheel 10 and rotates together with the wheel 10. An outer valve member 16 is located around the inner valve member 15 coaxially therewith. The elastic annular member 17 is interposed between the outer and the inner valve member so that both the valve members rotate relatively to each other. After the elastic member 17 is deformed by a predetermined quantity, both the valve members 15, 16 rotate together. The member 16 rotates together with a worm shaft 18. A vehicle speed responsible valve S, which is opened or closed in response to the vehicle speed, is connected between a reservoir R and a penetrating passage 23 of the member 16. When the vehicle speed becomes high, the valve S is opened and the fluid is returned to the reservoir R. Simultaneously, no pressure difference is made between both the end of a piston 29 and the piston is located between the inner and the outer valve members 15, 16 to rotate them together not to perform power shifting.
