Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain acrylic fibers having improved transparency, by passing a spining solution of an acrylontrile polymer through a non-coagulating solution via a spinneret then a coagulating solution.
CONSTITUTION: A spinning solution extruded through a spinnert is passed through a coagulating solution, and, before the starting of coagulation, through a non- coagulating solution. The strain given to the polymer during the passing through the spinneret is completely removed and the coagulation is started to give transparent fibers having a high light transmittance. The resulting smooth, lustronus, and uniform fibers give improved stretchability. Polyacrylonitrile, or a copolymer consisting of 60wt.% or more of acrylonitrile and 40wt.% or less of other monomers or their blend with other polymer, etc. may be cited.
