Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the antistatic effect of magnetic tape by using the specific quaternary ammonium salt.
CONSTITUTION: The quaternary ammonium salt of the formula (R is arbitrary hydrocarbon groups such as alkyl, aryl, etc. having amide groups; R1 thru R3 are arbitrary hydrocarbon groups: X is anion such as of Cl, Br, I, So4 PO4, etc.) is added as an antistatic agent in magnetic coating which contains ferromagnetic powder. This magnetic coating is coated on a base such as polyester base and is then dried. This lowers the electric resistance, charge voltage itself, reduces the friction resistance, particularly half-life and reduces pickup of dirt, dust, etc.
