Abstract

PURPOSE: To peel off cakes easily from plates without causing the pore filling of and the cake sticking to the filter plates by arranging the filter plates of liqid absorptive materials in a tank, absorbing water into the filter plates and remaining cake layers on the filter plates.
CONSTITUTION: Purification plant sludge is supplied to a tank 1 through a pipe 6 until the tops of filter plates 2 are dipped. A discharge port 10 and a valve 9 are closed. Water in the sludge supplied to the tank 1 infiltrates into the inner plate 2a through the filter cloth 2b and proceeds in the inner plate 2a by the capillary action. On the other hand, solids in the sludge stay on the surface of the filter cloth 2b. Water infiltrated into the inner plate 2a is discharged through a pipe 3b, and on the surface of the filter cloth 2b, concentrated cake 11 accumulates. Then the discharge port 10 is opened and the cake is discharged. By so doing, the pores of the filter plates are not filled, and the cake is removed and discharged easily.
