With respect to the 3He proportion counter 1, a neutron source 6 is constructed to be positioned at the center of the effective length 7 of the counter 1. A silver plate 8 is wound on the cathode 2 such that it covers the effective length 7 with respect to the neutron source 6. As a result, the gamma ray, which is emitted from the neutron source 6 to enter the counter 1 thereby to generate noises, can be absorbed by the silver plate 8 thereby to reduce the noises of the counter 1.
