Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify the retract operation of a magnetic head at power failure by integrating the discharge current of a capacitor and forming speed voltage, then negatively feedbacking it and determining the speed of a voice coil.
CONSTITUTION: When a power off abnormality occurs, voltage V3 is applied to a transisotr Tr1 and it is energized. A transistor Tr2 is energized by applying voltage V1 between its base input terminal t1 and ground. The charge stored in a capacitor C1 is discharged through a parallel circuit of Tr1, VCM, Tr2, K1, and C2. Discharge currnt (i) is applied to the voice coil motor VCM and operates it. The capacitor C2 integrates the discharge current (i) and capacitor voltage V2 almost shows that of the moving part. Even while the moving part runs at constant speed and strikes on a stopper, it is not excessively shocked and magnetic head is not also damaged.
