Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent sheet from jamming by eliminating switching of the sheet during passage by providing a sheet detector in front of a device for selectively switching any of two or more sheet exhaust passages and delaying signal from the detector to the device.
CONSTITUTION: There are provided a detector 7 at a main sheet conveying passage 1, through which copy sheets are fed, first and second sheet conveying passages 2, 3 at the rear of the detector 7 to be opened or closed by a switching pawl 4 driven by a switching solenoid 6 for selectively guiding the copy sheet to one of them. A signal from the detector 7 is fed to a shift register 8, which produces its output only after a clock pulse meeting the time required to completely pass the copy sheet over the switching means is appled to the register 8 to thereby open an AND gate for receiving a conveying passage switching command signal to then drive the switching solenoid 6.
