Abstract
PURPOSE: To stabilize further ferrite precipitate formed through ferrite-process treatment of waste soln. containing heavy metals, by oxidizing the ferrite precipitate with addn. of specific amount of ferrous salt simultaneously with, or after, the completion of the ferrite-forming reaction.
CONSTITUTION: To a water soln. contg. heavy metals is added ferrous ion not less than twice the total number of mols of harmful metallic ions and alkali about equivalent to the total acid redicals contained in the waste slon. In order to oxidize the ferrous cpd. and to precipitate the ferrite having taken in the harmful metals. To the ferrite is added ferrous ion not less than 1/50 the ferrous ion having been added in the ferrite-forming reaction to oxidize the ferrous cpd. additionally. This treatment stabilizes the ferrite precipitate, and further decreases the elution of heavy metals other then Fe from the ferrite precipitate.
